It is hereby informed that the Municipal  Council of Penang Island is considering the proposed rearrangement of traffic flow along part of Municipal roads in
Sungai Pinang as in the plan attached (see plan).

 
2.        The roads and direction of traffic flow involved is shown in the following table:-

3.             The rearrangement of traffic flow is proposed for the following reasons:-

 i.    The distribution roads used to complement the one way street circuit no longer need to bear the high volume of traffic flow  when the two way
street system is reintroduced.A major part of the traffic volume will use the main roads such as Jalan Jelutong and Jalan Sungai Pinang.
Jalan Patani will in turn be the inter road between Jalan Datuk Keramat andJalan Sungai Pinang.Jalan Veterinari and Jalan Sungai will be used
by the residents and traders there.

ii.    Safety can be improved.The local residents had previously objected against the implementation of the one way street system because of the
increase in the volume of traffic flow along the roads fronting their houses.

iii.  Travelling distance is reduced.With the two way street system  road users and the residents can use alternative roads to their destination.

PROPOSED ONE WAY TRAFFIC ALONG PART OF JALAN SERVIS AND JALAN CHOW THYE, PULAU PINANG

It is hereby informed that the Council is considering the proposed one way street along part of Jalan Servis and Jalan Show Thye as in the plan attached  (see plan).

2.The proposed one way street is as follows:

            i.         Jalan Servis - from Jalan Burma to Jalan Irawadi
           ii.         Jalan Chow Thye – from Jalan Irawadi to Jalan Burma

3. The proposed one way street is aimed at :
          i.         Reducing traffic conflict at the junctions involved;
         ii.         Ensuring smooth traffic flow;
         iii.        Providing additional space for park

4. It is hoped that the public can submit their views and comments on the proposed one way street before 15th July 2008 to enable the Council to consider them before a
decision is made.

Notice is hereby given pursuant to the provisions of Section 162 of the Local Government Act 1976 to owners of building who have given written notice to the Municipal Council of Penang Island that the building in respect of which assessment rates has been paid has been vacant during a period of not less than one calendar month in the 2^nd  half year 2008  and in respect of which a refund is claimed.

The claim form has been issued and the completed form must state the dates on which the building was unoccupied and the address to which the communications in reference thereto may be sent and must be accompanied with the official receipt of the payment of assessment rates for the 2^nd half year in respect of which the claim is made. The claim form must be submitted and received by the Department of Valuation and Property Management, Level 12, KOMTAR, Jalan Penang, 10675 Pulau Pinang, before 31^st  July 2008.

1. If original assessment rates bill is not received vide post: Property owners are advised to obtain a copy at Revenue Collection Office, Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang, Level 3 KOMTAR, Jalan Penang, Pulau Pinang or Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang Office at Balik Pulau, for payment before due date. For this purpose, please produce and old receipt.
2. If property owners are not residing at the property address: If there is any change to their postal address, property owners are requested to notify The Director of Valuation, Valuation Department, Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang, Level 12 KOMTAR, Jalan Penang, Pulau Pinang, of their current postal address immediately so that assessment rates bills may be amended & posted accordingly.
3. If a property has been sold / purchased: Whenever any property is sold or transferred, it shall be the duty of the transferor or transferee to obtain Form I, and submit to The Director of Valuation, Valuation Department, Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang, Level 12 KOMTAR, Jalan Penang, Pulau Pinang within (3) months from date of transfer of ownership.
